Introduction to HTML

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language which simply means a computer language devised to allow website creation. In other word, it is a language for describing web pages using ordinary text. The HTML file is created using .html file extension. Since 28 October 2014, there was a release of new HTML which is known by HTML5.

Basic Structure of HTML5:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
   <title>Page Title</title>
</head>
<body>
   <h1>My First Heading</h1>
   <p>My first paragraph.</p>
</body>
</html>
HTML tags: HTML tags are the hidden keywords within a webpage that tells the browser about the formating and displaying of the content. Mostly, tags have two parts. i.e opening tag and closing tag. For instance:
<h1></h1>
<p></p>
You can check that closing tag has got forward slash “/” character. There are some tags where closing tags are not required. For instance:
<img>
<br>
<hr>
Tag Attributes: Tag Attributes allows you to customise a tag and they are defined within the opening tag. For instance:
<img src="images/image1.jpg">
